The City of Homestead invites residents, families, and community members to attend a special Autism Acceptance Flag Raising Ceremony in recognition of National Autism Acceptance Month and World Autism Awareness Day.

This event highlights the City’s commitment to fostering a more welcoming and supportive community for individuals with autism and their families. Individuals with autism contribute to the social, cultural, and economic vitality of communities across the nation and deserve opportunities to live, learn, work, and participate fully in civic life with dignity and respect.

Observed annually throughout April, National Autism Acceptance Month promotes greater understanding, acceptance, and inclusion while recognizing the unique strengths, perspectives, and talents of individuals on the autism spectrum. April 2 is also recognized globally as World Autism Awareness Day, an observance designated by the United Nations to encourage communities worldwide to embrace compassion, awareness, and inclusion.

During the ceremony, the Autism Acceptance Flag will be raised at City Hall as a symbol of unity and the City’s ongoing commitment to building a welcoming environment for all.

Residents are encouraged to attend and show their support as Homestead joins communities around the world in recognizing and celebrating Autism Acceptance Month.
